On admission to HMP & YOI Parc, every prisoner receives a Basic Skills Initial Assessment test to determine individual education requirements. Literacy, numeracy and art are offered in block courses of either three or four weeks and a qualification is achievable per block. All other courses follow a roll-on, roll-off method.

In addition to courses offered within our sports facilities, we also offer:

We offer evening lessons in art and guitar.  We also offer Distance Learning Courses to accommodate higher-level qualifications and prisoners can complete degrees through the Open University and Prisoner Education Trust.  We offer enrichment activities - creative writing, the Koestler Awards, murals across the prison and diversity courses.   Driving Theory is offered with the Library team.

Parc Cadets
This is an intensive, introductory programme of education and fitness to give prisoners the qualifications for and opportunity to join the Armed Forces.  Any prisoner serving their first sentence of less than 30 months is eligible to apply.

The course is 22 weeks, which includes tuition to Level 2 Literacy & Numeracy, CLAIT (ICT), YMCA Level 2 Gym Instructor, Duke of Edinburgh (Bronze), Health & Safety, Manual Handling, Food Hygiene, COSHH and First Aid as well as an extensive fitness programme.
